Senior Frontend Engineer at SoFi · Seattle

Hi, I'm Hayden.
I build things people enjoy using.

I care about the details that make an interface feel right, and about the whole trip from “what if…” to shipped. Seven-plus years in, I'm happiest in React and TypeScript, and at home anywhere else in the stack the product needs me.

Bonjour !At the Louvre, Paris
  • 1.8B+monthly Facebook Groups users got Nicknames, which I built at Meta
  • 80Kmonthly users on SoFi's SMB lending funnel, growing 100% month over month
  • re:Invent2023: QuickSight Q and Data Stories, frontends I built at AWS, launched
  • 7+ yrsacross fintech, social, BI and HR tech

Two things I can't stop doing.

01

Sweating the UI details

The parts people touch are the parts I love: a loan application that doesn't feel like paperwork, a bank-linking step that just works, a rich-text editor with undo you can trust. At AWS I wrote the plan to move Data Stories' editor onto Lexical so history would never lose your work.

02

Taking ideas all the way to shipped

Zero-to-one is my favorite place to be. I built the frontend for SoFi's brand-new small-business lending funnel, and on my own time I'm building a social fitness app end to end: client, cloud, push notifications and all.

  1. Design doc
  2. Build
  3. Test
  4. Ship
  5. Watch people use it
Along the way I also…write the design docs that set directionbring Playwright tests and CI/CD to new teamsteach teammates Claude Code and give company talks on new releases

A social fitness app

Every layer is mine: an Expo / React Native client on an SST serverless backend, type-safe end to end with Zod contracts, and Apple and Google sign-in through Cognito.

Off the clock

J'apprends le français.
Petit à petit.

When I'm not writing TypeScript I'm conjugating verbs. Learning a language keeps me honest about what it's like to be a beginner. That's a useful thing to remember when you build for people seeing your app for the first time.
